We intend to offer more sizes as demand grows. Our PhotoDirect Software requires your MasterCard or Visa credit card details for payment. Our software does not currently cater for debit cards. The software informs you prior to order submission how much it will cost and enables you to print off a receipt.

How long will my orders take and what mail service do you offer?

Once you place your order, your images are printed on the same day or the next business day. Shipping usually takes between 3-7 business days depending on designation. International orders may take a little longer. All orders are shipped via United States Postal Service (USPS). (See prices chart for shipping charges).

What is the difference between digital print and conventional print sizes?

Conventional print sizes are the regular sizes that would have been printed from film. You should choose these sizes if you wish to place your pictures in the traditional frames or albums. Digital print size have the same width-to-height ratio as most digital cameras, which means that we would not have to crop down our image to avoid white borders.

What kind of format do you accept and what resolution should my images be?

We recommend JPEG format, however we also accept GIF, and BMP. Higher resolution pictures will result in clearer pictures. We suggest the following picture sizes:

>288 x 432 4x6"
>360 x 504 5x7"
>576 x 720 8x10"

What size prints can I order?
Print sizes range from 4x6" to 20x30". We also offer passport size 2x2", wallet size (2.5x3.5") and holiday/greeting/occasion cards in 3.5x7". (see pricing)

What kind of paper and equipment do you use?

We use Kodak professional paper and state of the art laserlab color laser printers.

Can I email the pictures that I wish to be printed?

No, you will have to follow our order procedure and download the FREE software and upload your images to place your order.

Can you fix a print that is poorly taken?

We do order adjustments where if you would like to adjust an order that you feel the pictures were taken poorly and might need some adjusting, we can do so at additional charge depending on the degree of adjustments.

Why did you put white borders on my enlargements?
If your enlargement arrives with white borders, cropping was necessary to include the full image. Please us the software to crop accordingly so that you can preview your picture before it comes out. Many customers miss this step and do not pay attention to the image viewer.

Are transactions safe on the website?
Orders placed through our website or our software go through WorldPay Internet Payment Solutions. WorldPay delivers simple, safe, and secure e-commerce solutions.

How can I start placing my order?
We'll make it easy for you. Just go to Upload Now And get your digital prints in a few days.

Can I print scanned images?
Yes, but avoid too high a resolution as the resultant large file will take a long time to transmit using a modem and will occupy a lot of hard disk space on your PC. A good habit is to try to use a file with a resolution between 600 x 800 and 768 x 1024. This is a reasonable compromise between quality, disk space and modem transmission time. Select TIFF color 24 bit or JPEG as the file format to save. If available, choose FLASHPIX, as this is the most appropriate file format for photographic electronic data.

How can I change the width of my digital prints?
Conventional 35mm films have an aspect ratio of 2(height) to 3(width). For digital cameras, the aspect ratio is 2.4(height) to 3.2(width), which equates to the aspect ratio of a computer screen. Because of this, our software enables you to crop to a conventional 2 x 3 ratio. If you do not crop, but still order conventional size photos, your prints will have the white borders that are displayed on the Pix viewing screen. To avoid the need for cropping, we also offer digital size photos which match the digital camera aspect ratio. Click here for a more detailed explanation.

What is the average time needed to upload an image?
This is mainly determined by the speed of the modem you are using, the size of file you are sending, and the load that your Internet Service Provider (ISP) has to cope with when you are online. It is difficult to predict how long an upload will take but in normal conditions we have found the following:

• A 640 x 480 image of size 41K with a 28,800 baud connection took 14 seconds
• A 858 x 614 image of size 61K with a 28,800 baud connection took 21 seconds
• A 1536 x 1024 image of size 161K with a 28,800 baud connection took 56 seconds

Can I print images from my camcorder?
If your camcorder has a still image capability and a method for outputting these to a PC then you can print these with us in the same way as normal digital camera images.

Can I print Black & White images?
Yes, our software allows you to upload Black & White images

What is a Compression Warning?
Some digital cameras allow for a choice of quality level, which refers to the level of compression of the image: low, medium or high. The higher the quality of image required, the lower the level of compression, and hence the larger the file size. Compression is irreversible: you cannot 'decompress' and recover the original look of your image. The compression factor is independent from the resolution of the image. When you compress, you don't reduce resolution, but simply intentionally deteriorate the image. Our software will warn you if compression is too high.

What is the quality like?
Because we use state of the art digital printers to print on conventional photographic paper, the photos we make are of the highest quality. If you use a good quality digital camera or scanner at a high resolution and with minimal compression, you will be very happy with the results. 'Resolution' relates to the number of pixels. In order to produce a satisfactory photographic print, your Digital Photo should have a resolution of at least 400 x 600 in its original size for a satisfactory 4" x 6" photo. When you select your images using our PhotoDirect Software, an alert will be displayed on screen if they have insufficient resolution or number of colors, and you can delete the selection. You will still be able to send the image to us if you so wish, but the result will be of a lower quality and our money back policy does not apply to these images.
